This IoT alarm combines an IoT intrusion sensor with PIR detection and remote environmental monitoring of CO, temperature, humidity, noise and light in a single unit. It can operate as an NB-IoT alarm or as a 4G security system and, thanks to its battery-powered low-power alarm design, this multi-sensor device can be installed in spaces without mains power or communications.
The system features carbon monoxide (CO), temperature, humidity, sound level, light and PIR presence sensors, allowing several environmental variables to be supervised simultaneously and abnormal situations to be detected automatically.
Its RISC-V-based architecture, together with NB-IoT or 4G and Bluetooth communications, supports both remote notifications and configuration, maintenance and diagnostic tasks.
Multi-sensor detection
Integrating several sensors allows a single multi-sensor device to handle both environmental monitoring and security event detection.
The unit can continuously monitor variables such as temperature, humidity, CO concentration, light level and noise level, as well as detecting movement or presence with a PIR sensor.
Combining multiple sources of information allows more robust detection strategies than a single sensor can provide, and lets the unit's behaviour be adapted to different installation scenarios.
Presence and intrusion detection
PIR detection (Passive Infrared) picks up movement or presence within the supervised zone, making the device a suitable IoT intrusion sensor for intruder detection and remote surveillance of premises.
When a detection occurs, the system can automatically trigger the defined verification mechanisms and generate a local or remote notification.
Information from the PIR can also be combined with the noise and light sensors to improve assessment of the event before an alarm is raised.
Environmental monitoring
The integrated sensors allow the alarm to be used as a stand-alone environmental monitoring system.
The device can detect variations or abnormal conditions in temperature, humidity, carbon monoxide, noise and light, generating events when preset limits are exceeded.
This capability brings security, detection and environmental supervision functions together in a single unit.
Smart management with configurable thresholds
The processor configures each sensor individually to operate with programmable thresholds and interrupt generation.
Under normal conditions, the system remains in an ultra-low-power state (Ultra Sleep). The sensors continue to monitor the configured variables without keeping the main processor permanently active.
When a sensor detects that a set threshold has been exceeded, it generates an interrupt that automatically wakes the system. The processor then carries out the acquisition and verification needed to determine the nature of the event and execute the configured actions.
This architecture maintains permanent supervision while considerably reducing power consumption.
IoT connectivity: NB-IoT and 4G
NB-IoT or 4G communications connect the alarm directly to servers, cloud platforms or centralised security systems, without requiring a local communications network.
In the event of an alarm or event, the device can remotely transmit information on presence, temperature, humidity, CO, noise, light, system status, battery level, alarms and diagnostic data.
IoT connectivity also enables remote environmental monitoring of multiple geographically distributed devices, centralising their status and events on a single management platform.
Bluetooth for configuration and maintenance
Bluetooth connectivity provides a local communication channel for configuration, commissioning, diagnostics and maintenance.
Device parameters and the trigger thresholds of the individual sensors can be configured from compatible equipment nearby, without physical access to the electronics.
RISC-V architecture and FreeRTOS
The electronics are based on a RISC-V processing architecture designed to manage sensor acquisition, communications and power-saving strategies efficiently.
The firmware uses FreeRTOS, a real-time operating system that organises the unit's functions into independent tasks and handles sensor events deterministically.
This architecture also makes it easier to evolve the firmware and add new features or detection algorithms.
Ultra-low-power system
A key element of the design is its ultra-low-power architecture, aimed in particular at installations with no permanent power supply.
During periods of inactivity, the device keeps unneeded subsystems switched off and remains in Ultra Sleep mode, with the sensors themselves generating the interrupts that wake the system.
Once an event is detected, the unit activates only the resources needed to verify the alarm, process the information and send the local or remote notification over NB-IoT or 4G.
When these operations are complete, the system can automatically return to its minimum-power state.
Battery power
The device is designed to operate autonomously on various power technologies, including rechargeable lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries, lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO₄) batteries and, depending on the application, non-rechargeable primary cells.
Combining battery power with ultra-low-power operation makes it a low-power alarm suited to autonomous installations with reduced maintenance requirements.
Applications
The Multi-sensor Alarm can be used in IoT security systems, intrusion detection, industrial facilities, remote infrastructure, warehouses, street furniture, smart containers, technical installations and other spaces without permanent power or communications.
Its ability to combine presence detection, environmental monitoring and mobile communications allows the same electronic platform to serve different security and remote telemetry applications.
